We went to the cherry blossom festival for the first time on probably the busiest day. Food truck lines were long so we took an uber north to Mi Vida. We were not disappointed. We walked in to friendly staff and air conditioning (which was welcome considering how warm it was yesterday) with an awesome atmosphere and good music (but not overbearingly loud music). We were immediately seated with our choice of table and the furniture was comfy. This is important because we are fat people and restaurant chairs are often not comfortable. For the larger folks reading this, the tables do move so have no fear if you get a booth (or half booth half table). Now for the food... we did as we always do at a new place and asked the server for recommendations. Her recommendations were on point. We had the guacamole and chips, fried plantains, mole verde quesadilla, and the carne asada. For drinks we had the cielo rojo, mezcal margarita spicy, and the mez-skull. We also were treated to a carafe of cold water on the table. The fried plantains come with cheese and cream sauce in authentic tradition. We have not had them this way in 30 years. They were cooked perfectly with a little crunch on the outside and soft sweetness on the inside. The carne asada was juicy and tender but the showstopper there was the mushroom cream sauce that comes on it which just made this dish next level amazing. I was a little disappointed at first that it didn't come with tortillas but you really don't need them. The chicken in the quesadilla was juicy and flavorful. We were full and not planning on dessert but then we saw the dessert menu. So we sampled the flan espresso and the churros. I'm not a flan fan but my husband is and said it's the best he ever had. That is how I felt about the churros which were very obviously made fresh to order. The cajeta sauce was amazing on the churros and so was the raspberry sauce. As for the prices, I generally think $12-$15 for a drink is ridiculous but I come to the DMV from rural Florida my reference is different. The prices in general seem reasonable for the area. Stopping in to Mi Vida was definitely the crown jewel on our day trip to DC. We will most certainly go back.

The food was awesome, service was spot on, informative, prompt & attentive. The ambiance was very modern and a Mexican vibe. Although the music was bass drum & high hat beat! When it should've been Mexican vibe music for which it would've made it better. Our waiter was friendly and very much to the point of explaining every meal. We'd come back.

I hadn't been to Mi Vida in a while and it really hit the spot during this recent visit. We had excellent service. The hosts and our server were very friendly. We all loved our food. I got the nachos and added chicken tinga and it was delicious. My favorite drink is always the Ponche de Lola and it didn't disappoint. My boyfriend and his daughter liked their meals. We went at an off time between brunch and dinner, so it wasn't crowded at all. Will definitely return.

Things I love.. dark restaurants, strong cocktails, and a live DJ. Mi Vida has it all plus some great food and service. Shoutout to our server Andrew for taking such great care of us! The margaritas were smooth and the guacamole was so fresh. Inside is fun and the music will have you vibing all throughout dinner.

I have to say-- if you want to go somewhere to indulge and try a little bit of everything (because you're indecisive like myself!) then you need to order Mi Vida's Sabores de Mexico family style dinner. For $44, you can get an abundance of food. I would go through the whole list but that's too much to type out so I'm just gonna say my highlights! - the fish tacos were so delicious with the slaw. They were fried fish tacos and even though the fish was fried, it felt light and wasn't too heavy - the churros were insane--I'd say I have a favorite dipping sauce but I can't decide!!! Maybe the chocolate? - the carne asada is so perfectly cooked and balanced with the sauce - the enchiladas and the sauce were soooo tasty and had the perfect amount of seasoning The service was quick and I appreciated that our server kept refilling my diet coke and also would put in the next course after we finished our previous course. We were yapping like crazy and ate very slow so I am grateful that he kept an eye on us and made sure we were taken care of! Lastly, the decor and vibes in here are amazing. The tree in the center is so cool and the moody lighting along with the DJ makes this place just so vibey. I'd come back with my girlfriends for a fun girls night out!

My wife, older daughter and I had a really lovely meal out on their side patio a while back. Service and ambiance is vibrant and fun and we shared a number of really great dishes. Started the meal with both an order of guacamole along with the queso fundido filled to the brim with oily delicious chorizo. Neither of these lasted very long as both were packed with a flavor punch, pairing perfectly with a spicy rimmed margarita on the rocks. We shared two mains amongst us...the chicken Caesar salad and a quesabirria quesadilla. The grilled chicken on the Caesar had a zippy seasoning coating on it that my wife loved. The quesabirria was so rich and decadent it was hard to eat the entire thing...but we did! Given how close this spot is to my daughter's apartment, I know we will be back.

What a vibrant 1st time experience. We stopped by Mi Vida to grab some tequila-/mezcal-inspired cocktails for a TGIF excursion. Overall, our group of three had a great time in this chill, low-key restaurant. We were fortunate enough to find enough seating at the bar for the three of us... with a little help from the staff. The team was accommodating in that they moved some items out of the way so we could see at the end of the bar, which I assume is more for service. The restaurant does have a few small booths in front of the bar, but they (2-seater booths) were too small for the three of us. Mi Vida has a pretty generous happy hour menu, which is available until 6 pm, that includes a few cocktails (around $10) and appetizers. I did appreciate that staff proving a couple reminders that happy hour was ending within 10-15 minutes. While the happy hour food menu was inviting, we decided to get some items off of the regular menu that included picadillo empanadas, bowls of esquites, chips and gauc, and tatanachos. I'll say that the picadillo empanadas were so delicious that we ordered three rounds of them throughout evening. I thought all of the beverages (and I had quite a few) were made to perfection. My favorites of the evening, which were not on the happy hour menu, were the Mez-Skull (a mezcal-based drink with ginger beer and other stuff) and La Medicina (an anejo-based drink with singer, agave, and lime). Be careful with these beverages bc they go down so smooth that you might not taste or smell the punch. All in all we had an amazing time at this restaurant, and I will gladly add it to my go-to list.

Mi Vida is a perfect venue for good eats, welcoming ambiance and delicious drinks. I love coming during the lunch hours or for happy hour. Their servers were attentive and welcoming. I've dined on the patio with a large group and I've also say at the bar with a friend. In both instances the servers provided quality service. All the dishes have been delicious but their chicken wings are "chefs kiss" followed by the tacos and nachos. It's certainly become one of my favorite spots.

I had such wonderful brunch at Mi Vida. Surprisingly it was not crowded on Sunday. As soon as I got inside I was stunned by how pretty it was. They had this artificial tree inside that caught my eye. High ceiling. I regret not taking photos of that. Their brunch menu offered a variety of things and it was hard to decide. We ordered empanadas and chips & salsa. I had enchiladas with creamy sauce and they had a hint of sourness and it was delicious. Throughout it all our server was very attentive. He accommodated us with requests. Answered all the questions with a smile. Great service. I will return.
